Zion Olympics
Zion olympics was really enjoyable, it was an excellent friendship bonding activity. Congrats to Mish and Daryl, think they really did a great job (and of coz, the other ppl behind the scenes). Coming from a Catholic church, which is rather a more sombre and serious experience. This was abit of an eye opener.
Unfortunately, a good day always has to be spoiled by something. Was in quite abit of pain in the second half of the event, because of an old army injury. My lower back was trembling, on the verge of cramping up...It has been more than a year ago since i injured myself but it still rears its head now and then.
Was in 2002 or in late 2001, can't quite remember. But i was jumping off the standard obstacle course ramp (SOC) and i landed badly on my heels and fell backwards...almost going into the barb-wire. Felt a "crack" sound coming from my lower vetebre, and a sharp pain followed. Manage to complete the course in a decent time tough..but the next few weeks was hell.
Couldn't get up in the morning, sneezing brought about a sharp jarring pain, sitting too long was a problem, sitting cross-legged was even worse. Couldn't stand for too long and a full day of activity, running around and such...gave me a headache because of the niggling pain.
Doc said any strenuous activity in the next few months could make the injury permenant, which was really scary. But I came back into army exercises abit earlier..because it wasn't the best feeling seeing your whole platoon going off for exercise while u sit in an air-con room and ans fone calls.
However, during the last few exercises in NS...It started to hurt again and there was this long march back to my camp. Insisted to my Platoon sergeant and my Platoon commander i couldn't continue but they asked me to try. So I went and I almost nvr made it cause of the pain..
after ORD..nothing....no pain...
And now back in Perth..starting to hurt again...tired of looking like an old guy when exercising..why won't it heal.....
